AdvantAge Ontario is a provincial association of not-for-profit long-term care and seniors’ housing providers that offers timely, relevant continuing education for members. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization was looking for a way to expand access to courses for those unable to attend sessions in-person, using an online, on-demand platform.
Leveraging Technology
Associations and not-for-profits have tight budgets, so we use existing technology whenever it makes sense to do so. In this case, we built the new learning hub on Thinkific, a scalable online course platform that offers customizable templates.
Real Capacity Building
The pilot project was built with recordings from recent webinars on high-demand topics. Once the foundation was in place, we began working with AdvantAge Ontario to create purpose-built online courses. We started with just one marketing email a month, and expanded from there.
Two years after launch, the platform hosts more than 30 courses, has garnered well over 500 enrolments, and has earned the association more than $120,000 in non-dues revenue, exceeding all expectations and targets.
