AdvantAge Ontario is a provincial association representing not-for-profit long-term care, seniors’ housing, supportive housing and community service agencies. The association offers timely, relevant continuing education to professionals working across the sector.
AdvantAge Ontario wanted to make its educational programming more accessible to members and other sector professionals, while extending the reach and value of its content beyond live, in-person programming. It also recognized an opportunity to develop a more flexible education model that could support audience growth and generate new non-dues revenue.
Leveraging Existing Technology
Associations and not-for-profits often need to balance innovation with limited budgets and internal capacity. AMP recommended building the new learning hub on Thinkific, a scalable online course platform with customizable templates and the functionality required to support registration, payment, course delivery, and participant access.
This approach allowed AdvantAge Ontario to launch an effective solution without the cost and complexity of developing a custom learning management system.
Real Capacity Building
The initiative began as a pilot using recordings from recent webinars addressing high-demand topics. Once the platform and delivery model were established, AMP worked with AdvantAge Ontario to expand the offering and introduce purpose-built online courses. The marketing program also developed gradually. It began with one dedicated email per month and expanded as the course catalogue, audience, and revenue opportunity grew.
The platform now offers more than 40 courses and has generated hundreds of enrolments. More importantly, it has established a sustainable channel through which AdvantAge Ontario can expand access to education, extend the useful life of its content, and generate non-dues revenue that has exceeded initial expectations. What began as a focused digital learning initiative has become an important part of the association’s long-term education, member engagement, and revenue strategy.
